Emily's Tribute from The Moody Blues

Growing up in the Sevenoaks household was, if anything, a very tuneful one. Every room had the ability to produce music and usually it would be BBC Radio 2 playing in various different syncs, so we'd usually be able to catch Ken Bruce's Popmaster at least twice. But without a doubt, as I'm sure you all know, it was 'The Moody Blues' that kept dad's musical soul alive.

I've personally been to more gigs of theirs than I have of any of my own personal musical choices, but I wouldn't change that for the world, because truthfully, although they might not be everyone's cup of tea - they were dad's, and they are mine... Well, they had to be didn't they? I was named after one of their songs!

And so, with this in mind, and having approached the band - here it is, a tribute to my dad, Roger Sevenoaks, from them, his heroes, The Moody Blues.

Unfortunately, what with their busy schedules and probably a bit of relaxing for once, I only heard back from John Lodge - a singer and guitarist for the band - but his words say it all...

"Lovely to know the warmth, your smile can bring to me
I want to tell you but the words you do not know"

These are the words I wrote for my daughter, and Roger, I know these are the same feelings of love you had for your daughter.

I'd like to express my deep gratitude to Gordy Marshall for assisting me in getting in touch with the band - he's even more of a legend to me now.
